Route to Resilience
Christ the King is an accredited Route to Resilience school. Funded as part of the local NHS Future in Mind programme, Route to Resilience is an evidence-based and practical approach to supporting children and families in the development of their emotional well-being and resilience.
We launched the programme last year, and introduced the children across the school to specific vocabulary which identify key characteristics or ‘character muscles’. The children exercise and strengthen these muscles throughout their school day. They learn that different character muscles are needed to tackle different tasks and situations and that everyone, regardless of academic ability, has the potential to develop in any given area and to bounce back from challenging times.
As well as implementing the programme at school, we have conducted a parent event over both our sites to introduce the theory and thinking behind the programme. Our long term aim is to develop and build on this work year on year, through home and school support, enabling all our pupils to be the best version of themselves that they can be.
